In the News - 2014
The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is a wonderful organization that connects authors, illustrators, editors, agents and publishers from around the world. I am proud and very happy to announce that I won the 2014 SCBWI Magazine Merit Award for my non-fiction article The Poppy Lady that appeared in Highlights for Children last November.
The Poppy Lady receives wonderful honors from the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project.
Dr. Lee Karen Stow is an award-winning photojournalist in England. In her documentary project, Poppies (Women and War), Lee tells the stories of women who were touched by wars and conflict from WWI to the present day. During her research, Lee worked with brave women refugees who fled wars in the Congo and Somalia, and she shared Moina's story with them.
